Our Solution

The Kayangana Smart Hub — mechanized, sustainable, community-powered palm oil processing.

THE SMART HUB MODEL

Four key differentiators that set Kayangana Eco-Palms apart

01

Health & Quality Assurance

We replace the grueling 5-to-7 day manual fermentation process with rapid, mechanized extraction. Our oil stays well below the 10.0 mg KOH/g international acidity limit — a standard local artisanal producers currently fail to meet.

02

Zero-Waste Circular Economy

We transform agricultural residues — leftover palm fibers and shells — into eco-friendly charcoal and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer, creating additional revenue while protecting the environment.

03

100% Renewable Energy

We are committed to running our operations entirely on solar power, moving away from the massive deforestation caused by traditional wood-fired boiling methods.

04

Ethical Dual-Revenue Model

Farmers can either sell fresh fruit directly at a fair price, or pay a small fee to use our efficient equipment. They are partners in our growth, not just suppliers.

Funding Our Pilot Smart Hub

Our pilot Smart Hub in Rumonge requires a total initial capital injection of $5,000. Through our placement in the ACE Incubator at Ashesi University, we have already secured 30% ($1,500) of this required capital.

Grant funding will be strategically allocated to close our remaining 70% funding gap — directed entirely toward Capital Expenditures to operationalize the site:

  • Procurement and installation of motorized oil expellers
  • Filtration units for quality-compliant oil production
  • Initial solar power system infrastructure
  • Site preparation and operational setup in Rumonge

WHY KAYANGANA?

How we compare to existing solutions in the market

The Gap We Fill

While large competitors like SAVONOR operate at an industrial scale, they leave the majority of smallholder farmers unserved. Artisanal producers, on the other hand, use methods that are unsafe, inefficient, and environmentally damaging.

Kayangana Eco-Palms sits in the middle — bringing modern, clean processing close to farmers and aiming to expand to multiple locations across Burundi.
